Finding Inspiration in Every Epic Journey

Welcome to the EpicEarth Podcast website! This podcast is a product of Boise State University students as part of STEM Outreach through the Geoscience Department.

The concept of the podcast was developed by Ashley Bosa, Bryan Rosenblatt, and Scott Gauvain - all BSU affiliates (see bios below) who want other people to know how AWESOME geoscience careers are and want to highlight some of the Epic Earth events taking place right now!

Our amazing logos and marketing is all due to Amanda Kuhlman - an inspirational and epic individual who volunteers so much of her time to help us achieve our goals!

The episodes of this podcast focus on students - both graduate and undergraduate - and their research. We also interview professionals inside and outside of the Geosciences whose primary purpose is to advance STEM fields. STEM students and faculty spend a lot of time promoting their research at conferences and other formal settings, so we wanted to create an informal platform for people to talk about the incredible things they are working on and express and share our excitement over current Earth events and research.

So, join us as we travel all over the world. Explore nature from the comfort of your chair. Dive into the world of glaciologists, hydrologists, biologists, paleontologists, physicists, seismologists, and a whole other host of scientists. Take a journey with us around this Epic Earth.

Meet The Team

Ashley Bosa

Creator and Co-Host

Ashley is a PhD Candidate in the Geosciences Department at Boise State University. She is a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow (NSF GRFP), and is involved with STEM Outreach through the department. Her primary research focuses on using geophysical and remote sensing tools to track and detect volcanic mudflows on the flanks of Volcán de Fuego in Guatemala, as well as developing effective educational-training and volcanic prepardness courses for communities living within volcanic hazard zones in the Cascades .

Bryan Rosenblatt

Co-Host and Podcast Engineer

Bryan instructs introductory physics labs at Boise State University, which is also where he received his M.S. in Geophysics. His primary interest is acoustics, with his past research focused on volcano acoustics. When Bryan isn't focused on physics, he typically performs or practices with various music ensembles, such as Lounge on Fire.

Scott Gauvain

Guest Host

Scott now has his very own M.S. in Geophysics from Boise State University. His research focused on river sounds and how they may be used for remote stream flow monitoring. He now works for a secret national lab conducting evil scientist experiments...aka, he's doing some awesome work in machine learning! And, while he may not be present in Boise, he's still a huge influence for this podcast! He believes the general public should be more informed about Earth processes, and wants to share his passion for geoscience with anyone who's willing to listen.

Amanda Kuhlman

Designer and Product Director

By day Amanda is an Interior Designer but is passionate about graphic design. She has created graphics for multiple companies and loves supporting the local community by helping to build small businesses. Amanda is an outdoor enthusiast herself and finds any excuse to go outside whether it's a long hike, rollerskating, or just walking her dog.
